Summer Interns for Apple Corps Gardening Program

The Volunteer Center: Seeking a Summer Intern for a very cool program. Apple Corps is a team of national service members that fights the causes of obesity, hunger and malnutrition in our communities. We work closely with our partner schools in the Seattle public schools to develop school gardens. During the school year we use the gardens to promote the healthy eating and gardening as a physical activity. Unfortunately the maintenance of the school gardens during the summer is usually neglected. Without regular maintenance the gardens become over grown with weeds and produce few vegetables.  We are looking for an intern to assist our Apple Corps members with the maintenance and upkeep of these gardens through the summer. This includes: weeding, harvesting, watering. We will donate the fresh produce from these gardens to food banks to support the needs of local communities.

Apple Corps Cooking/Nutrition Intern: Apple Corps is a team of national service members that fights the causes of obesity, hunger and malnutrition in our communities. During the summer, we partner with community centers and summer programs to conduct cooking/nutrition classes with children. We cook tasty and healthy recipes with kids throughout the city to empower kids to make positive food choices. We are looking for an intern to assist our Apple Corps teachers with classes. This includes helping groups of students with basic cooking projects. Assisting the instructors with classroom management and helping with prep before class and clean up after
